Internet of Things Starter Kit cookbooks the connection of local data to the cloud for creators of smart products.
IBM AND ARM HAVE teamed up to create a kit to make devices for the Internet of Things (IoT).The ARM® mbed™ IoT Starter Kit contains boards that easily link to the Cloud.
Meg Divitto, vice president of IoT, IBM, says, "The Internet of Things is about bringing the physical and digital worlds closer together...In order to make this work,..it needs to be simple to connect physical devices into the cloud.”

ARM says its Ethernet Internet of Things (IoT) Starter Kit is "particularly suitable for developers with no specific experience in embedded or web development."
The easy-to-connect boards (see illustration) link to the IBM cloud connection and various tutorials to teach users the IoT ropes. ARM says its starter kit, gets "data from on board sensors into the IBM cloud within minutes of opening the box."
Through IBM's production grade BlueMix platform, IoT implementation and device management is as simple for one device as it is for a million. No matter whether you are a mass-market product developer or an inventive entrepreneur working with one device or on one building, it is easier to take the idea and its prototype to production. IBM says, "finalised design can be taken to production using the mbed software development kit (SDK) and hardware development kit (HDK).”
